Our trip to South Africa
Dear Edwin and Ingrid, We had a tremendous time on our trip to South Africa, Our visit to Amazulu Lodge felt like a trip to an oasis, your complex was beautifully designed and thought out. You made us feel very welcome and even part of the family. We hope that Gerry is doing fine and we wish him best, we enjoyed our little discussions around the fire in the evenings. Our trip to south africa included a stay at the Kruger Park Lodge which was a beautiful complex with terrific facilities, pool, tennis courts, golf course, play area etc and only a short drive to Kruger park, which was awesome, a must for any traveller to SA.There is nothing like seeing these majestic animals in their natural habitat. Amazulu lodge was our next stop and we had a wonderful time. The boys took a night drive which was very interesting, Sean thought that the guy who took them out was very informative about the whole ecosystem that was the wetlands park. Our journey lead us down to a stay for a week in a house on Zimbali which was beautiful. We were able to hit the beach and travel down to Durban to visist the Ushaka marine park which was perfect for the children. We had 2 nights in the Drakensburg which Ingrids neighbour Anton had tried to organise accommodation for us, it didnt really work out although we really appreciate their efforts. We ended up staying 1 night at the Nest ( dont go there!!)and the last night in the terrific Alpine heath resort in the Northern Berg. All sounds abit like an itinery but the people we met were very friendly, the landscapes very varied and beautiful, the animals amazing. The poverty was difficult for us to deal with, but we really hope that time will bring better times for the majority of the people living in this country,In Ireland similar conditions were encountered only a generation ago. I know that Ingrid and Edwin already make a difference, as the staff told us. We hope that other employers also pay a decent wage and treat their staff with the respect they deserve. Hold on I'd better get off my soap box!!. The more tourists the better and if in St Lucia a atay at Amazulu lodge is a must.
